Editorial standards

Laboratory Sector Today (provisional name, pending trademark and domain clearance) covers the business of laboratories for owners, executives, investors, consultants and suppliers.

What we cover

One publication spanning commercial and captive/in-house laboratories, government labs, academic and university labs, nonprofit and consortium labs, lab suppliers and instrument makers, and scientific service providers.

Mergers and acquisitions, earnings and financial reports, leadership changes, facility expansions and closures, accreditations and scope expansions, new scientific services, government and academic facility investments, institutional leadership, and workforce changes.

We report grant policy, awards and funding trends as business context, but do not run live grants, funding or procurement opportunity listings, RFQs, bids, job boards or auctions.

Sourcing and verification

Every published item links to an original public source — a press release, regulatory filing, accreditation body directory, earnings release or credible news report — with its publication date and the event date.

Each item carries a visible status. Source checked · editor review pending records an initial source check, not human approval; unresolved drafts stay private and are excluded from public news and search indexes. Editorially verified means a named editor has signed off; only those are indexed, listed in the news sitemap and marked up as NewsArticle. Deal items always state whether a transaction is an announced agreement or completed. Analysis sections are clearly labeled as our view.

Items clearly labeled Fictional example describe fictional companies and exist only to preview the site.

Human review — no autonomous publishing

Submissions and press-release feeds land in a private review queue. Nothing reaches the public site until an editor writes an original summary, attaches the source, verifies it and approves publication. We deduplicate by source URL so the same announcement is not covered twice.

Originality

We summarise in our own words and link to the original. We do not republish articles or press releases in full, and we do not invent quotes.

Corrections policy

If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and add a dated correction note to the item. Items that cannot be supported are retracted with an explanation rather than silently deleted.

To report an error, contact the editors with the item link and the correct information or source.

Privacy & data

Company watchlists and notes are private to the signed-in account. Contact inquiries and news tips are restricted to staff; they are not published as reader submissions. Do not include unnecessary sensitive personal information in a tip. We do not promise absolute anonymity or legal privilege.

Independence and related ventures

This publication is editorially separate from LaboratoryVortex (scientific sourcing and rfq opportunity tracking — a separate venture.) and from Pamela Wertalik Advisory (independent laboratory business advisory — a separate brand.). Coverage decisions are not influenced by those ventures, and any relationship will be disclosed on relevant items.

Founder-related properties

For founder-related advisory context, visit Pamela Wertalik’s advisory profile. Advisory services, Laboratory Vortex scientific sourcing, Laboratory Alliances community inquiries and Global Regulatory compliance services are separate properties with distinct purposes.

Shared founder context does not establish a formal partnership, accreditation, membership or endorsement. No named alliance participants or member counts are claimed here.
